About the Role:
Superior Excavating has been a family-owned underground utility and excavation contractor in Southeastern Michigan since 1966. We're looking for an experienced Controller to join our in-office team in Auburn Hills. This is a stable, long-term role with a tight-knit crew that takes pride in doing things right.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Payroll processing and support

  • Month-end and year-end close

  • Financial reporting and job cost tracking

  • Bank reconciliations

  • Maintaining accurate records across all company accounts

  • Supporting ownership with financial data and reporting as needed

  • Handle union audits

  • Handle insurance audits

  • HR onboarding experience

  • Maintain banking relationships

  • Maintain relationship with CPA

  • Maintain Simple IRA program

  • Handle any governmental audits

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years bookkeeping experience (5+ preferred)

  • Proficiency in Excel and/or Word

  • Experience with Foundation software a plus

  • Construction or trades industry experience a plus

  • Must be able to work in-person at our Auburn Hills office

  • Must be available to start June 1, 2026
